Turning concussion innovation into practical tools for sport
Love of the Game supports emerging technologies that are improving how concussion is detected, understood, and managed across sport.
We focus on innovations that move beyond theory — prioritising tools that can be used in real time, within the realities of training, match play, and clinical decision-making.
Our role is to help bridge the gap between early-stage innovation and real-world adoption in sport systems.
Championing early-stage innovation
We are proud to have supported some of the most promising developments in concussion prevention, diagnosis, and management, including:
Concussion Toolkit
A research-led education and digital recovery platform transforming how concussion is understood and managed in community and university sport.
Now our lead education partner, Concussion Toolkit plays a central role in delivering behaviour-change education and practical concussion guidance where it is needed most.

BrainEye
An AI-driven concussion screening tool that uses eye-tracking technology to deliver rapid, objective insights in under 60 seconds, supporting pitch-side decision-making.
Abbott Laboratories
Developing biomarker-based diagnostics (including UCH-L1 and GFAP) to improve the objective identification of concussion. Current research includes exploring saliva-based biomarker collection for more accessible testing.
PolarCap® — Early intervention in concussion care
PolarCap® is a clinically supported head and neck cooling technology designed to reduce elevated brain temperature immediately following head injury — a key factor in reducing potential secondary damage.
We supported PolarCap® from its early development phase, including facilitating introduction to UK sport and early-stage trials such as its deployment with London Irish Rugby Club.
This early collaboration helped contribute to a landmark moment when the Football Association of Wales agreed to deploy PolarCap® at the FIFA World Cup — bringing early-intervention concussion technology onto one of sport’s biggest stages.
“Love of the Game’s Demo Day provided an important platform to engage clinicians, innovators and decision-makers who care deeply about improving concussion care.”
— Jamie Bache, Chief Growth Officer, PolarCap®
We continue to support PolarCap® as they scale across professional sport.
Our focus
We prioritise technologies that:
- Improve early identification of concussion
- Support safer return-to-play decisions
- Reduce reliance on subjective assessment alone
- Can be realistically integrated into sport environments
Our goal is not innovation for its own sake — but tools that genuinely improve outcomes for athletes.
