The LOTG Concussion Hackathon 2021 was an intensive, 24-hour sprint that brought together student teams from leading universities, including undergraduates and postgraduates. Teams collaborated to rapidly identify unmet needs and prototype innovative solutions aimed at improving concussion recognition, education, recovery, and support—especially outside elite sport and clinical settings.
Throughout the hackathon, participants were guided by an inspiring group of mentors from industry, sport, tech, media, law, and research, including Jim Cameron, Simon Shaw MBE, Professor Michael Sutcliffe, Steve Carter, and Suzy Fox, who provided coaching, expertise, and real-world perspective.
Projects were evaluated by a distinguished judging panel, featuring notable figures such as Laurence Geller CBE, Mike Tindall MBE, Lisa Winning, and David Walsh, ensuring that the most practical, impactful, and innovative ideas were recognised.
The event highlighted the power of collaboration, co-design, and rapid innovation, showcasing the creativity and potential of the next generation of leaders in concussion awareness and care.
